THE PLAYGROUND returns to KOKO this July for a rare UK appearance from heavyweight dubstep producer DATSIK with support from the likes of MODESTEP DIRTYLOUD, HIGH RANKIN-LIVE, THE PROTOTYPES, DISMANTLE and more.

24 year old DATSIK has been taking the dubstep scene by storm, with over 7 number one releases on Beatport! He has remixed some of the biggest names in the scene such as Bassnectar, Noisia, Diplo, the Wu-tang Clan, and Apex to name a few. DATSIK was co-headliner to Steve Aoki on the Deadmeat tour where he demonstrated his skills to packed audiences from Coachella, Chicago, New York leaving them in a state of disbelief on each occasion. On his performances Aoki said: “I was just completely blown away. This is one of the best dubstep producers I’ve ever heard.” He released his debut album Vitamin D, on Dim Mak Records on April 10th 2012 and we couldn’t be more excited to have him headline this event! Expect mayhem!

With main support coming from MODESTEP, we see the group back at KOKO with a LIVE PA and DJ Set. Currently supporting Lostprophets on the Weapons tour 2012 we expect another massive year for the band in the run up to their upcoming releases.

Further support comes from international filth-electro duo DIRTYLOUD. Formed by Marcus aka Jim and Eduardo aka Du, their productions stroll among many dance music genres, but progressive and electro house are their main roots. Their debut EP published by Savage Media/Plasmapool, Think Dirty EP reached 5th place with the track “Disco Recordz” on With number ones in both the dubstep and electro-house charts on Beatport and playing to tens of thousands of people across the world, 2012 is set to be a mega year for the duo.

HIGH RANKIN-LIVE Dubstep dandy and local bounder, HIGH RANKIN is one of the scenes more eccentric artists. In 2011, none other than Snoop Dogg personally picked HIGH RANKIN tracks for the ‘Throw Your Dubs Up’ mix tape. In what was a serious year for the dubstep outsider, 2011 also involved touring Australia and New Zealand, America and Canada twice, whilst also mixing a Ministry of Sound ‘Sound of Dubstep’ compilation. The Live Show is now firing on all cylinders with a 5 piece line up of vocals, drums, guitars, synths and MPC action.

“HIGH RANKIN is insane, his beats, his samples, his live sets, his hairstyle, all of it, fucking insane. This is rave dubstep at its finest”

THE PROTOTYPES are an upcoming Drum & Bass act for Shogun Audio. Their big single that was one of the best DnB songs in 2010 “Cascade”, was picked up by  HYPERLINK “” DJ Friction for his Ministry of Sound mix, which came out early Summer 2010. With a trademark big room sound, support for THE PROTOTYPES has come from all areas including Andy C, Friction, Sub Focus, Roni Size, Fresh, Pendulum and more, scoring them A-list play on no other than MTV’s famous dance channel ‘MTV Dance’. Top DJ agency ‘Coda Music Agency’ moved for THE PROTOTYPES at the tail end of 2011. THE PROTOTYPES recently dropped into BBC Radio 1 Friction for a session in May 2012 and we can’t wait to have them play with us at KOKO.

DISMANTLE is a 19 year old DJ and producer from Brighton who co-runs Gangoon Dubz, whilst also being signed to Digital Soundboy. His newest single  HYPERLINK “” HIZZLEGUY will attract fans of the likes of  HYPERLINK “” \l “!/tag/skream” Skream and Joker. Funky, distorted sample clips pretty much lead straight into that gritty, unfiltered bass, exactly how  HYPERLINK “” DISMANTLE likes it. In his remix of  HYPERLINK “” \l “!/tag/emalkay” Emalkay’s Flesh & Bone, things get really old school–or new school. Listen with caution; this is OG street bass.

Support will also come from TORQUX & TWIST, STATIX, MAKSIMCZYK, NOVA, LOST BOYS, and WORM just to name some. Stay tuned on for more acts to be announced.
