Still early in his career, Tanner Petulla aka Getter has asserted himself as one of the most consistent and significant talents to emerge from the international bass scene in the last few years. A stalwart of the FIREPOWER stable, Getter
continues his prolific run of form with his new SMASHER EP, out July 9.
Building upon the success of his debut album I Want More, which was released on FIREPOWER in February of this year, the new EP features seven raw and dynamic original tracks. The title track breaks through with a whirlwind of thrashing drums and synths while the background vocals command you to “bounce.” Once the beat clears, an explosion of bass is let loose with the follow up track “Knives.” Then, joining forces with DJ/producer Trampa, Getter funnels a chilling beat through sinister giggles and roaring bass with “Bonesaw.”
The hair-raising production continues with “Cannibal” as Getter layers chopped vocals with a more groove-infused bass, showcasing the range of his sound. Next up, Getter unleashes the intensity with “Hatchets,” laying out thunderous subs spiraling into deadly drops. Then 12 Gauge accompanies Getter on the penultimate track “Slam,” a demonic fury of drum and bass coupled with resonating synths. Powerfully closing out the SMASHER EP, “Swamper” unites Getter’s signature, guttural bass with a looming assembly of percussion methods and jerky synths.
Each track on the SMASHER EP holds its own dark secret, delivered intensely and built for devastating sound systems. Getter has taken the underground bass music culture by storm and has no plans of stopping anytime soon.
